Length of service: 1 year and 1 day
My job: I am an Account Executive at Red Door Unlimited and work across a number of client consumer and medical accounts that cover a range of areas including nutrition, type 2 diabetes, oncology and cardiology.
Interesting fact about me: I attended nine different schools in four different countries - a reflection of my family’s nomadic tendencies! During sixth form I was given an unusual assignment to coach the Bath Rugby Club players on public speaking to help them in their dealings with the press! I was involved in organising University of Edinburgh Fashion Show in 2014, which raised over £20,000 for WaterAid.
Career history: I completed various work placements prior to my role at Red Door Unlimited, including at a number of media outlets such as Marie Claire Magazine, BBC News and ITN News, as well as creative communications and events company Imagination. Additionally, when completing my MA in Politics at the University of Edinburgh, I undertook two internships at Red Door Unlimited, before joining as a Junior Account Executive in 2014.
What I love about working here: Through a variety of work experience, I have sought to apply learnings along the way to my work at Red Door Unlimited. That's the beauty of PR - I haven't had to choose one of these careers, but instead I am able to practice them all! PR is incredibly varied and I have the opportunity to develop communication skills, to present to clients and colleagues and to arrange events taking place around the world on a daily basis.
Studying politics at University, I developed a particular interest in health following my placements at Red Door Unlimited, which inspired my choice of dissertation on health outcomes (specifically, a critical evaluation of UK Government policy on obesity). Whilst we all come from different and diverse backgrounds, bringing a range of skills and experiences with us, we are united by our common interest in health. Health is, of course, relevant to us all and working in an area that builds on the understanding that every person and their quality of life counts, is truly inspiring.
I was delighted to be accepted on the graduate scheme at Red Door Unlimited and really appreciate the value of being able to work alongside a team of motivational people who make work a fulfilling and enjoyable place to be. I have been struck by Red Door's determination to look after its staff and invest in its people - whether it be a card and cake on your birthday, a team weekend in Brighton or a bunch of flowers on your anniversary! Management of its people is fronted by a great leadership team who devote every effort towards staff development by means of a genuine open door policy, gladly taking on mentoring roles for Junior Account Executives and Directors alike. Red Door understands that the whole company is only as good as the sum of its parts - and, at the risk of sounding like a cliché, I am definitely glad to be one of the parts that makes Red Door Unlimited!
