Chlorination has long been the standard method for biofouling control, but storing and handling chlorine gas presents significant safety challenges in marine environments. Bulk hypochlorite storage is safer but still requires large tanks, regular resupply, and added logistics.
On‑site electrochlorination provides a safer, more reliable, and cost‑effective alternative. By generating hypochlorite directly from seawater using only electricity, it eliminates the hazards of gas chlorine and the operational burden of bulk chemical storage.
